18th January 2006
As MAX begins its second year, the family of MAX-powered chart plotters continues to grow. Five new Navman GPS/chart plotters have joined the family of navigation systems developed for the new C-MAP MAX electronic chart platform. This new series of Navman electronics brings the advanced features of MAX to owners of smaller boats, freshwater boats or any vessel where installation space is limited. Navman’s new MAX-compatible TrackFish 6500 takes the GPS/chart plotter/echosounder features of the popular TrackFish 6600 and packages them in a compact unit with a 5″ color display. With its 12-channel WAAS capable GPS receiver, “smart antenna” and 600W dual-frequency echosounder, the compact TrackFish 6500 offers capabilities previously limited to larr, more expensive systems.
Navman is also launching two ultra-compact color GPS/plotters with a 3.8″ screen and the ability to display many important MAX features. The new 5380 and 5380i (internal antenna) are packed with advanced navigation features and displays data on a QVGA transflective color LCD screen that’s sunlight viewable. The series offers features like a highly accurate 12-channel GPS, interfacing with Navman’s fuel management system, flexible split screen options, and more.
Two additional new GPS/plotters -the 5430 and 5430i (internal antenna)-provide the same features and advanced C-MAP MAX functions as the 5380 Series with a larger 4.3″ high resolution monochrome LCD display.
Navman’s new Trackfish 6500 unleashes the full power of C-MAP MAX for boaters, with advanced features like Flashing NavAids, Dynamic Currents/Tidal Predictions, Perspective View for a “bird’s eye” view of the chart, Land Elevation Contours, improved Coastal Road Data and Points of Interest (POIs). MAX also empowers these new units to display Aerial Photographs and Diagrams of selected harbors/marinas, as well as C-MAP’s exclusive C-Marina charts of marinas with in-depth facilities information and detail right down to individual slip numbers. The compact 5380 and 5430 models provide important MAX features with the exception of aerial photographs, perspective view and land elevation contours.
