GPS Chart Plotters

GPS chart plotters

allow you to navigate with the aid of an electronic chart. Chart plotters have a display unit and an antenna with which to track the GPS signal. The signal is then relayed to the display unit, which will show your vessel on the chart. In addition to this the display with show all chart information surrounding the vessel including: water depth, buoys, obstructions, and land masses. Chart Plotters also have other nice features. You can zoom in and out, create waypoints, and more.

NEW SI-TEX SP-90 AUTOPILO DESIGNED FOR INBOARD VESSELS 30 TO 60 FEET!

The new SI-TEX SP-90 Autopilot with fixed-mount, waterproof control head is designed Sitex SP90to fit inboard vessels 30 to 60 feet, with continuous-run hydraulic pump systems.  This newly designed autopilot is the “extra hand” on deck that boaters always need, and it keeps them right on course–effortlessly.  The operation is a snap:  Simply set the course and the SP-90 takes the controls, piloting to the next destination with ease and accuracy.

Simrad SH80 software update

This week Simrad released a major software upgrade for the popular Simrad SH80 high simrad sh80resolution, high frequency fishery sonar.

The software upgrade includes a brand new noise filter. This will remove impulsive noise like cavitating propellers and interference from other sonars and echo sounders on nearby vessels.

Simrad Yachting AS Has Entered into a Merger Agreement with Lowrance Electronics, Inc.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA–Jan. 30, 2006–Simrad Yachting AS and Lowrance Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:LEIX - News) announced today that Simrad Yachting has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Lowrance for $37 per share. The acquisition price represents an enterprise value for Lowrance of approximately $215 million and a premium of 48% over the closing price of its shares on Friday, January 27, 2006.
